Great American Cleanup & Don't Mess With Texas Trash-Off
The Great American Cleanup (GAC) is the biggest cleanup event Keep McAllen Beautiful hosts in the City of McAllen. Every year LOTS of volunteers gather to help cleanup McAllen streets, Hike & Bike trails, railroad tracks, parks, and schools. The Great American Cleanup will take place Saturday, April 12, 2025. Everyone is treated to a free t-shirt, food and fun. Look forward to seeing you there!

WHAT IS GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP?
The Great American Cleanup is an annual community effort to banish litter and trash from our parks, schools, streets, and sidewalks. Every year we pull together as a community and hold a giant volunteer event that picks up and bags tons of trash and removes it from our public spaces.
This event is a chance to give back to the community you love and to make it cleaner, better looking, healthier, and safer for everybody to enjoy. We're serious! Did you know litter creates crime? And where there is less litter, people tend to be healthier.
This year will feature The Oddest Item Contest! Entries will be judged after the cleanup. The winner will win a very cool prize, plus we will enter photos of the odd item collected in the Keep America Beautiful national contest! For a chance to win nationally!
You can sign up for this event individually, with your school, organization, business, or church.
- We will provide a T-shirt, trash bags, disposable gloves, and orange vests.
- Meeting place will be at Mcallen Municipal Park (1921 N Bicentennial Blvd) at 8AM.
- Lunch will be provided after the cleanup.
- Prizes, Music, and fun.
