"Heart of Jacaranda" represents the symbiotic relationship that exists between plant life and animal life. Without trees and a natural habitat, animals would lose their chance of survival, so I wanted to emphasize that we need to help preserve this balance of nature and pay attention to what lives around us. The jacaranda is represented in this painting as a motherly figure who loves and cares for the animals who live both around her, and in her heart. We, humans, should be part of that symbiotic relationship. - Liana V. Andreasen
Liana V. Andreasen is an English Professor at South Texas College. Even though she never took proper art classes, she has always had an interest in drawing and painting, and during the pandemic she participated in some online art workshops. She also has had a great interest in birds and nature in general, and was fascinated when she discovered the roseate spoonbills at a McAllen lake. She thought they'd be perfect for an irrigation pipe, along with the more well known great egret.
She writes fiction, she has been in plays, she likes swimming and horseback riding, and she has recently become interested in making movies.
