"Symbiosis" is an exploration of a few of the interconnected life forms native to the Rio Grande Valley. This piece brings to life the region's rich biodiversity, featuring native plants like Live Oak and Agave, and animals such as the Indigo Snake and Yucca Moth. Central to the theme is the critical symbiotic relationship between the yucca plant and the moth that pollinates it at night, highlighting the essential, often unseen interactions that sustain ecosystems. This piece invites viewers to appreciate the delicate balance and intrinsic beauty of nature’s partnerships. -
Jimi Keirn & Fariss Ryan
Jimi Keirn is a self-taught artist from McAllen, TX. He paints feelings using color and motion. Every experience and every moment of every day comes with feelings. For years, he suppressed and ran from those feelings. He was unsure what they meant, didn’t like how they felt, and inevitably ran from them. Avoiding his feelings led to loneliness and isolation, stunting his emotional and spiritual growth. But then he found art. Painting allows him to set those emotions free. It lets him put onto canvas what he can’t put into words. His hope is that my art connects to everyone on some level.
Fariss Ryan is a multidisciplinary artist based in Brownsville, Texas. His work spans music, film, design, animation, and visual arts, capturing the rich diversity of life’s experiences. Specializing in digital media, Fariss has also embraced mixed media, skillfully integrating painted art pieces with cutting-edge augmented reality. This fusion creates immersive, interactive artworks and murals that can be experienced through phone cameras via QR codes, drawing viewers into a unique exploration of animation, texture, color, and light.
