The artwork is painted in warm colors of red, orange and yellows. This really represents our Valley summer weather. The background portrays our McAllen area palm tree skyline at dawn. - Filiberto Gutierrez
My name is Filiberto Gutierrez, AKA Fili. I am a 66-year-old retired art teacher of 31 years of service at Mission High School. I have been married for 46 years, with 3 children, and 7 grandchildren. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and serve as a second counselor in the bishopric of the McAllen 2nd ward. I am currently active in creating art (clay sculpture, knife making, gunstock engraving, and of course, murals). I believe that art is a God given talent and I delight in creating worthwhile works of art. I feel so blessed. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the Keep Mcallen Beautiful Art project.
